Soo Bahk Do Self-defense Class
The BCC was certified in May of 2009 as an official martial arts studio by the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Federation. It is the only Soo Bahk Do studio in California serving the blind.
Two classes are held each week under the guidance of instructor Kyo Sa Nim Mario Schapp and assistant Instructor Mateusz Golonka. It is open to all blind, visually impaired and/or physically impaired students. More than 20 students are now enrolled.
Classes are free and meet Thursdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
BCC members took part in the Soo Bahk Do National Festival and Championship on August 29, 2009 at the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley. They received several awards.
